Ball Python and a small dog??
Hello this is my first post and I hope it wont be my last:
I have snakes now " Corns " and had a 5ft Female Ball when I was 18. I had to sell her due to money problems at the time. I am married now and in the past few years I have started making my hobby of snakes a reality again and got my wife used to them by starting with two corns. We have a small 20 pound Cattlebred/Terrier mix dog. We want to get a small ball python but have concerns with our dog and a ball python face off hahaha! We are in a town house and I have my current snakes in our living room and want to keep a ball python there as well so guest can see my collection. Would it cause any conflict with a ball python and a small dog like that? Any tempers? Any advice?
Re: Ball Python and a small dog??
One other concern I would have with that situation is if the dog shows interest in the snake while it's in its cage, that could stress the BP out. But I guess if you had the tank/tub up high enough where the dog couldn't just sit there and stare at it, it probably wouldn't be an issue. :D

Ball Pythons spend most of the day in a hide, and are only really out and about during the night. since they are hiding most of the day I doubt that your dog will take much interest in a ball python.

I agree no need to worry. My shepherd takes no notice at all even the cats don't seen to care. Of course there in there hides most of the time anyway.

This is the problem we're having with one of our cats. Fortunately, dogs can't climb like cats can :D Sometimes the cat in question just sits next to the cage, calmly watching what we dubbed "reptile tv," but occasionally when he's hyper he'll start pawing at it.

I have never introduced the snakes to batman, if he gets too anxious I just put him out while i have which ever snake out at that moment. My cat don't care at all weather they are in out of their cages.
You know what's weird? I have a few BPs, and a pug, and every time I take my snakes out, she doesn't care, almost to the point of not noticing them. But she has to notice right? Lol it's very out of her character to not show interest in anything alive and moving. Probably a good thing but strange none the less.
Re: Ball Python and a small dog??
My min pin/chi cross 9lbs, loves all our snakes, he loves anything that moves...my yr old female ball, will ball up by choice and sleep touching him...nothing is ever unsupervised though.
Only issue I've ever had is my dog wanting to luck the snakes..he licks everything.
I'd say it depends on the dog the snake.
