Papers!

For papers can't I just go and make something up about a snake and say its "het" whatever or is there a special way on how to make papers?

Papers are only as good as the seller is to me what is important is to buy from a reputable breeders whether I get paperwork or not.

Working on your reputation and getting your name out there will mean more than any piece of papers.

You COULD just go ahead and make them up, but that's not a highly thought of way to go about it, as selling fake hets is not cool at all. When you go about making hets, documentation is key. Then, when making your "papers", being honest is the way to go.

Thanks guys. I have some het Albino Pardox's KSB's ready to go this season and I want to get papers for the hets so I can sell them. So do I basically write down who produced them (which is going to be me) a picture and what the pairing was?

Unless the babies will be 100% het, I would think paperwork really is not necessary. If you are breeding hets, the offspring will not be 100% het.

Make sure you do photo identification on all hets you produce and sell. Also MAKE SURE if you ever buy hets and resell them you get the same paperwork. I made this mistake years ago and as some on here knows i paid the consequences for that fiasco. It was a hard lesson to learn and im still paying for it.

I actually make up nice, full color, laminated ID sheets for my hets. I know if people re-sell them, they'll want something decent to send along to prove their genetics.

Paperwork makes it MUCH easier for a customer who wants to resell the animal down the road.

My ID sheets include photos, names, and ID on each parent snake, a good top-down photo of the het animal itself (not balled up, of course), with its ID, genetics, gender, hatch date, etc. I sign it, and then laminate it.

The purpose of this is that my name and signature can follow this snake, and it can't very easily be forged. The snake's pattern will remain the same its entire life, so it can always be identified from its photo on the paperwork. I also have the animals registered in iHerp's lineage database, so there's an additional record of them, along with what I have in my own archives.

Paperwork is only as good as the breeder, but good paperwork makes things much easier for a customer.

Paperwork may only be as good as the breeder, but paperwork holds up in court. Don't see why you'd want to sue over like $125 for a normal het albino, but for some of the higher-end hets or a morph that's het for another morph, I can see it. Even if you got it from a shady breeder, the breeder's still responsible if they guaranteed a het animal.

Always get everything in writing.

I see what you are saying, but good luck suing over a het. There is always a chance you could miss the odds 100 years in a row.
