    Rodent size for Boas
Does the 10 percent of body weight pertain to boas also when choosing a prey size??

I usually choose food that will leave just a small lump in it. I normally don't weight food that often. You don't want to feed a boa something to big.

Boas can become obese rather easily, so I agree with dragonboy4578. Choose something that's about as big around as your snake, maybe a little bigger to leave a small lump, but not much bigger than that. Usually eyeballing it is just fine, I don't usually weigh my feeders either.

Here's a care sheet that I loosely follow.

Scroll down to page 23, it gives a pretty good picture as to what you should be feeding your boa corresponding to age and length.

I agree with both dragonboy and Alexandra. I just visualize it too. The prey should be just big enough to leave a very small lump. And it's ok to go slightly smaller. In fact, better smaller that too large with boas. They'll grow just fine and if the prey is too large, it's possible they'll start to regurge. And only feed 1 per week (7 day schedule). Don't feed a baby boa every 5 days like we might a ball python. 1 a week is perfect. :gj:
