    mite advice needed ASAP!
well, everything is moving fast in our new world of BP's including our 1st experience with mites. the lil guy we got from the pet shop has mites... go figure. that pet shop is not open on sundays and want to get some mite solution ASAP! found some at pet co called Natural chemestry. active ingredients are Dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate 2.1%, undecylenic acid 0.5%. Other Ingredients: 97.4%. can anyone advise if this is a good product? it has good reviews. weve inspected him well and its not bad but want to get it undercontrol b4 it becomes a problem. will be greatful for any advice. even if we need to order and have it shipped and wait a few days for a better product. thank you in advance!

The best mite product is called Provent-a-Mite (PAM). You can only purchase it online. It works instantly. Just make sure to read the directions carefully as it can harm your snake if used incorrectly. When I had mites and used it, all mites disappeared the day after.

You can also give your snake daily soaks. Just put a few drops of dawn dish also into warm water and put your snake in.

I know what your going through H&T my sons has mites that we got from a pet shop. I ordered the provent-o-mite and mite off by zood med . I am waiting to use the PAM as I am still have to get the thermostatfor my UTH so that I may spray down his enclosure and use paper towels as the subst. I am using the mite off right now as this is taking care of some of the problem I just am not trying to stress him out too much all at once until I can do the cleaning properly

Nooo!!! I HATE mites.... They seem to make the snakes so miserable.
I used PAM and it worked right away- and I think I have enough left over to last for any other mite infestations. While I was waiting, I did the whole dishsoap soak trick, which also worked really well. Put enough water in a little tub to cover your snake- not much more than will cover his body. I did it so he wasn't swimming and could just sit comfortably in the bath. Then put a drop of dishsoap in with him and slosh it a bit to make bubbles- just a drop will do. Then the nasty little blood suckers won't be able to get above the water and will drown... :D When I did this, I saw tons of them in the water when I went to dump it out, so I think it worked quite well.
Use this as a supplementary measure while waiting to get something permanent, this only works to get them off your snake. They also need to be eradicated from his environment.

I saw some little white spots near Fangs eyes and I know they are mites but I was scared to spay mite off by his eyes or the jurasimite that I have as well I did use a q tip and soaked it with mite off to use under his chin I am going to look up to se if it ok to get a mist around the eyes not close of course but has any of you used these products around the snakes eyes with no bad reaction?

Many have recommended the natural chemistry reptile spray. There are a growing number of regions where P-A-M is hard (restricted chemicals) to get. Don't wait to treat get what you an locally.

I hate mites too. I saw one on my cell phone of all places, I think I picked it up from Pet Smart earlier that day. I grabed the magnifying glass and looked over my snakes and thankfully I did not see any on them but still treated them with frontline spray diluted 50/50 on all my snakes. (reptile vet recomended) cleaned tanks, and cell phone, sprayed tanks down with frontline, let dry and air out for 30 min to an hour and used pt as substrate..... have not had a problem plus it lasts for 30 days so everytime I clean tanks i treat with frontline spray.
    I even treated the dog.
