and that was AFTER i took off all the muddy bodywork ;)

some of you guys might remember me saying somethin about taking my bike to a race track last weekend in Virginia.... lemme tell ya, it was FREAKIN INCREDIBLE! this was my third track day, first one at this particular track & the course was just amazing. like nothing i've never experienced before. The comraderie, the experience, the pure adrenaline is like nothing i've experienced before on the ground (the air is a different story though... man, i miss flying)

anyway, I left last Saturday & got back this past Weds night. We had two days of track time back to back (mon & tues) & i went off course & dumped my bike doin 80 near the end of the first day :dead: . i was comin around the last high-speed right hander before the straight, back end stepped way out on me & almost bucked me off, but i saved it, straightened out & now i'm pointed one way & the track is pointed the other... went off into the mud, dumped it on the right side & the bike landed on my leg just above my ankle... it'd be broken if it weren't for my boots.... some of the best 250 bucks i've spent :D

a little bruised up & sore, but i was able to shove my swolen & bruised ankle back in my boots & ride the next day on my buddy's full blown race bike :D... and i mean FULL BLOWN RACE BIKE!!! even if it was capable of being registered to ride on the street, it's not somethin you'd wanna ride very far.... it's tight, twitchy, brutal, unrefined... everything you want in a track rat.... think i might get one for myself & save my street bike for just that... the street ;)

hopfully i'll get some more pics of me actually ON the track & post em up later

btw, the parts are on order & my bike should be back together by the end of next week... it's actually a cheap fix, just needs a bath, a brake job (fluid dumped everywhere from the resevoir) & some race bars :D

two days of track time & one night stay in a hotel - 550
    other food/room costs - bout 150
travel expenses - another 150 or so
three missed days of work pay - bout 300
trip to Virginia International Raceway w/ a bunch of your friends to haul @@@ at 150 mph........ FREAKIN PRICELESS

Glad to hear you had fun and made it back alive! It sounds like you had an awesome time. How often do you get to do these trips?

whenever i can afford it ;)

i've only been riding consistantly since last May & i've done three track events. the first two were up to New Hampshire a few hours away & just for one day... this was my first multi-day trip & i had a BLAST!!! If i get a good paying job & save my pennies i might go to Europe & do a track in Italy :D but that's a BIIIIIIG dollar trip... a few grand. i'll have to work hard to get onto that guest list.

hopfully i'll get in a few more track days this season, 5 would be nice... maybe save my pennies for a track only bike & do the Penquin Race School... if i do that then i can get my race license & participate in open practice sessions for pretty cheap every race weekend, but those are alot more high-risk... alot more passing & close quarters. maybe next year or the year after that if i'm still in one piece ;)

so... who wants to massage my leg for me? that sucka's killin me

You did put ice on it didn't you? (sorry mothering instinct)

Just curious, if you go to that race in Italy how do you get your bike there? Big suitcase? :confuse: I think you should take a bunch of us too as a cheering section hehehe  So is this your first major battle wound? I love to hear good war stories! I don't have too many....My best one is either a few scratchs from a Great Horned Owl or some wicked floor burn from volleyball (of course that's excluding childbirth!)

Hope you're on your feet again soon, without pain! :D :relax:

    hehehe, thakns...

if i go to the Europe trip we'll end up renting bikes while we're there. it'd be a huge expensive hassle if we shipped our bikes over there w/ us

only injuries i've sustained on my bike is a concussion & this... two different incidents. and both times would have resulted in MUCH more seroius injuries if i wasn't wearing my gear. 1500 bucks for leathers, boots, helmet, gloves & back protector is cheap compared to a medical bill since i do'nt have med. insurance at the moment ;)

I'm more into Stunt Riding -
    Such as StarBoyz ...

I've been looking into getting a Yamaha YZF R1 for a while now.
When it comes to saving money up for it, or getting herps -
I always end up getting herps! =)

if you ever get the chance to get on a race track, you'll change your mind about track riding ;)

where do you live? and would the R1 be your first bike?
