    Male versus female growth rate?
I am asking this because this past December, I acquired two of my first Ball Pythons: a male Butter (weighing around 165 grams when we got him) and a normal female that was significantly bigger (at about 220 grams).

Well, besides the fact that both refuse rats (eating two smallish adult mice every 7 days, don't really leave a bump on them) they are excellent feeders and have never missed a meal. Thing is, the supposed male is growing leaps and bounds faster than the female and does now dwarf her at 370 grams versus about 300.

My question is: is this normal for a male? I doubt that he would have been miss-sexed, but mistakes can always happen... I suppose. He's the one in the picture of my avatar.

They all grow at their own rate. I have a verified male that was born a month or 2 after a verified female that weighs the same as her.

They really do grow at different rates, alot has to do with how picky or not they are with food. Obviously the more they are likely to eat, the faster their growth rate. Although this does not necessarily warrant more feeding for faster growth.

Two of my females, a pastel and mojave have totally different weights despite being about the same age. My pastel is an absolute pig amd will eat anything put in front of her. The mojave is picky and has only taken live although I have been working on converting her. The pastel is almost double my mojaves weight. Again it really depends on the snake.
