Billy the Exterminator (VexCon) on A&E
For those that do not know, Billy the exterminator is a show on A&E. It is about a very eccentric man named billy and his pest control business Vex Con. I was just watching the season 5 premiere as I was interested when in the commercial he was catching a large burm under a house, seems interesting. Well, you can immediately tell its scripted. Thats not the bad thing tho. The bad thing is that he is jumping around this poor burm grabbing its throat when it is obviously not irritated by him or anything. Thats the first thing that makes me mad. Next he is calling it a giant killer snake and how mean they are and it wont hesitate to kill you or your children, blah blah blah. While he is dragging the poor snake out, it's tail lays across his neck and actually curls away from his throat and wraps his wrist. He pretends the snake is choking him and it is absolute dribble. With all the issues we are having with python bans, it is people like this retard :imslow: that thinks he is making good TV and just ruining snake rep even more. The guy is an idiot and he sure did name his company properly, allthough it should be written vex CON

Oh yeah, Billy is infamous on this site and in the industry as a whole. I remember seeing one where he was treating a ball python like it was a rattlesnake and telling people that all snakes with slit eyes are venomous, which, in most areas of the US, is an okay rule....but not in the southeast that's home to slit-pupiled pythons and boas.

Needless to say I wrote him a very long, diplomatic but strongly-worded email.

It's sad and unfortunate, but this happens on TV with just about everything. Some idiot gets a deal to do some reality show, bad part is, this idiot has NO idea what he/she is talking about. It's like they don't screen the hosts to see if they know what they are talking about. Even worse is that the general public will now think what this douche said is correct.

The networks dont care what is portrayed as long as it sells. For example do you know how much crap the network deals with from peta on swamp men? Peta is all over that show for them shooting gators. The network doesnt care if its wrong or right, they care about the ratings. No one is going to put a show out about the educational side of keeping snakes. Theres more money for the networks to put out crap tv like bilky the exterminator, python hunters etc. The thing that burns me about python hunters is that gregg grazianni one of our own is on that show catching these pythons and not once has he tried to make us breeders, pet owners, hobbyists look positive. I have seen more then once on that show where they are blaming the glades problem on pet owners. Sellout

i saw that too, it was stupid, actually kind made me mad. he didnt even give the snake a chance, he just grabbed it right by the throat. i can understand being careful and all, but from my experience (limited as it may be), if you just set your hand on a snake, after two seconds, if it doesnt try to do something defensive, it probably wont.

what really angered me is when he said "snakes are snakes, even if their a pet, theyre always mean". i almost threw my remote at the TV lol, cause thats like saying that all species of cats go around killing buffalo and zebra just because lions do

Lol that show made me so mad when he went to some womans house to remove the "snake" problem and when he found the snake it was a small ball python. The first thing that i thought was rediculous is that he picked it up with tongs and acted like it was poisenous. You could clearly see it was a ball python, in fact my 6 year old step daughter said to me, "Derek that snake is just like blitz isnt it." So the fact that a self proclaimed animal expert didnt recognize that blew my mind. When he finally decided it was a python he then went on to say that, that snake is a python and it could get up to 15 feet in the wild. By this time i wanted to punch this dude in the face for not knowing what a ball python was.
