acting hungry

my BP is acting "hungry" or the way he usually does on feeding day but hes not supposed to eat until saturday...what should i do? last feeding day he ate a moue a tiny bit more than 15% his body weight

How often do you feed? I feed mine every 4 days when they are young.

Is all your husbandry right? If the cage is too hot then the snake will roam around.

i feed every 4 days as well...and i dont think its 2 hot because he still stays on the hot side pretty much the whole time...right now he appears to be trying to get under the substrate

How old is your BP? As Aaron pointed out, young ones usually have no issues with a 4 day feeding schedule...especially while they're still on mice.

In my opinion, young BPs are kind of hard wired to eat as much as possible to put on weight and size when they're yearlings. It's how they help ensure survival in nature, and get bigger faster so they can pass on their genetic material.

I always tried to feed young BPs about every 4 or 5 days until they got big enough to eat small rats. At that point I switched to every 7 days and adjusted the prey size as the snake got larger.

As long as you're comfortable that your husbandry is spot on and he's not showing any signs of stress, you might just have a little garbage disposal on your hands. I used to have a Pastel that would eat anything that didn't eat him first.

yep husbandry has been the same since the day i got him...this morning when i woke up he was in his warm end hide and as soon as i turned on his light he came out and started his "hunger display" all over again...im gonna try switching him over to rat pups or weanlings 2morow
