    New your opinion
I have a ranco that is regulating my oil filled heater (pre wired for this purpose) but it fell from it position from being velcro'd to the side of my rack. It remained functioning but I noticed that the plastic coating/casing on the probe pulled away and exposed two wires (black/white) - I just Need to know if I can simply wrap the wires in electrical tape and be good to go.

Note - there isn't any live wires exposed - it just pulled out of the grey casing.

Please let me know what you think.

    Thanks

if you can verify that it is still regulating your temps, then you should be fine. I wouldn't be worried about the wires (you can use electrical tape on them) but the unit itself.

I found it on the carpet and it was still on and showing an acurrate temp. It's the probe wires that go into the top of the ranco - that is where the casing pulled away about 2inches

I would keep an eye on it, but as long as it i's still working properly I'd just wrap up the wires
