    Herpstat Pro Vs. 4
Hope this is not in the wrong place.

I just need some help making up my mind. I know where I can get a new herpstat pro (blue lcd) for $269, the best price on the 4 I have seen is $335. Do you think that the added features of the 4 justify the price difference or should I just go with the pro????

I use the 4 and love it, the 4 has added safety features and better software/circuits that to me makes it worth it. The grounded outlets on the 4 is also a big plus for me.

The pro has been discontinued by the way, though I think they still have a few in stock.

As Aaron said the Herpstat Pro has been discontinued and a new line of Herpstats are in the process of being released. You can view the details of the new line here: http://spyderrobotics.com/home/products.html

Thanks guys, I'm aware of the new features I was just wondering if I would use them at all. I guess ill just go with the 4 so I don't regret it later.

The are two very interesting features the 'soft heat' system built in, is quite interesting. It doesn't just apply power instantly it slowly adds power. Building heat slowly rather than all at once.

The other is the relay, I have been playing with it very interesting one of the options available will shut the unit down if the high or low alarm is triggered. That means if the probe was to be pulled free and this feature is enabled the unit will shut down rather than over heat the enclosure. That is also a very interesting feature.

The Pros are awesome I have 3 and love them the 4 is also a great unit I own 1. The pros just have some subtle differences to me it depends on the set up. If you can see any chance that the probe could ever get pulled free and you do not use failsafes then there is a clear choice the 4 if you have a failsafe then the choice is less obvious.
