Substrate suggestions

Hey guys, I am new to cresties and I can't seem to find what substrate is suggested. From experience what substrate have you found works best? By the way, my setup is an acrylic type cage thats about 14 inches tall, and 8 inches wide and long.

Cypress, papertowel, even straight potting soil with no additives works well. Coco husk. Etc.

I used to use a mix of coconut bark and pointing soil.

I really don't like the mess of a naturalistic substrate so I either use paper towels or a rubber mulch mat. You can purchase the rubber mulch mat online or at home depot/Lowes. When I went to HD they had a 4"x10' roll of it on sale for $7. It doesn't look as good as if I were to purchase one that would fit the entire floor, but you can't really tell it's in pieces when there is decor on top. It looks natural, it's easy to clean, and it doesn't make a mess.

Is that what repti-bark is? I really like the look of it.

Also, what do you guys use for temp and humidity? I bought a flukers temp/humidity digital gauge and it cost 25 bucks which is ridiculous. I would just go to walmart and buy an Accurite like I have for my snake but its just so big so i would prefer something smaller. Any suggestions?
