how small of a male can i use?
i know male should usually be about 500 grams before they breed but some breeders have told me they have done as small as 300 grams. I have a 350 gram lesser male that i would like to put in with my mojave as i have a feeling the pastel just isn't getting it done as she has shown no signs of being gravid. Do you think this ill be ok? What is the smallest male you have tried?THanks.

I start males once i notice sperm production.

But doing so this young you have to pay attention to them closer. if they refuse 2 meals in row for me, their pulled from breeding till they get back to eating on schedule. They also are on only 2 days in with female 4-5 days rest.

I agree, you can give it a shot, but you will need to be careful and pay attention to what's going on with him.

Doesnt really matter how big,(it matters size and age), only that he is producing sperm. And as the other person said I would watch him. Odds are he wont be producing sperm at 350g but you can pop him and see if he has a hemipene cast.

I bred a small male my first year, he was between 350 and 400 throughout the beginning of the year. I took advice from other breeders and only put him in 2 days at a time for a couple weeks and kept a close eye on his behavior/health. Keep feeding him and get him fattened up while your breeding him.

i don't have much skill at popping so i don't try in fear of hurting them. I think i might give him an intro to her at least to see if he is even interested in breeding. Also is it normal that when handling him and get near his vent that his hemipenes start to come out? Thanks.:)
