is it safe for heat tape on this?
i know the plastic drawers at walmart arent good for small snakes but i have three 3000 plus girls that have been in them for some while and are ok but is it safe to put flexwat on these with a thermostat to keep from over heating i cant afford another rack nor build one right now but was hoping to do this instead until i can get another rack built thanks

I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about, if you have the flexwatt on a thermostat it probably will be fine.

Absolutely not, there is nothing separating the "drawers" and the heat tape. Not only will you have uneven heat throughout the drawers, but these are proven unsafe for snake keeping. Save your money and buy a shelf of some sort and some tubs. It's not possibly much cheaper than those crappy plastic drawer systems. I got a metal rack and tubs at Walmart for under $80.

Don't even buy the rack, buy bigger tubs and put the UTH and thermostat on each individual one. This really is not crazy expensive here, what maybe $12 max for tubs with lids at walmart?

i may just do that then but the thermostates are expensive as well could you put flexwatt underneath then wire all three of them to a thermostat

Yes, you can wire the flexwatt to connect to eachother. All you'll need to do it cut and splice an extension cord and connect them. There are youtube videos on how to make a circuit using flexwatt. I also suggest this thermostat for people on a budget: http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR...7&sr=8-1-spell

You have 3000g females 2 each in a 28qt tub? A female that big probably needs her own 41qt. Like was said above, the most economical thing to do is get appropriate size tubs with UTHs on a thermostat. You will be out about $40 each for a tub and UTH, and $30-100 for a thermostat.

What are you heating with now? I do not want to armchair quarterback what you have going on here, but why do you have these big females and not have appropriate housing? Unless I am understanding your first post wrong.

I would just ensure that each piece of flex watt is the same size that is going to the thermostat, or snake one continuous piece from shelf to shelf.
