Water bowl always yellow...
I change my BPs water almost daily. I occasionally skip a day, no real reason, just laziness I guess... but anywho, his dish is light gray but the water always has a yellowish tint to it. I use filtered water, so I hope it's not something in the water. Is he just constantly peeing in his dish? Has anyone else noticed this?
Re: Water bowl always yellow...
Is there an odor to the water? My snakes always use the water bowls for toilets, lol. I do notice that it is colored yellow and just smells nasty when they do it.
Re: Water bowl always yellow...
Its probably one of those wierd snakes that likes to pee in its water bowl. I have a few that do this time to time. Just keep changing it when you notice it. Mine stopped doing it after a while.

Only some snakes do; if you haven't noticed bad smelling water/ discoloration then you are probably fine. Every other day is a good schedule if they don't use their water bowl to go to the bathroom.

Its not a daily thing but i do clean it with a wet sponge until the sticky residue is gone once a week, usually the day i feed, or try to feed.
A film will grow in the bottom of any water dish. It seems that life likes and needs water to live:O. It can be caused by bateria, fungus, any micro organisms, ect., and the fact that it is stagnant and in a warm environment which will excelerate the growth. It is important to not just top off your water bowls but to wash them out with soap and water and change water often. I use several types of bowls, ceramic, stainless steel, and plastic, some tend to be better growth surfaces for bateria but they all get it after a couple days.
