Joined the club!

So i went to a reptile expo yesterday and i was at the NERD table checkin out their bps. I asked to see one of their female pins so the guy took her out. He said that she was real fiesty and bites so i took her from him anyways and right away she bit me. That was my first bite from any bp and it wasnt so bad. Right after that i said ill take her haha. I think her biting me made me like her more.

I've yet to be bitten by any snake yet *knocks on wood* but my BP gets a little fiesty in feeding mode. Today I dropped a feeder in the tank and she struck at the side of the terarrium as I pulled the tongs away haha.

Welcome to the club. I think anyone that has worked with snakes for a while ends up getting tagged. I agree, it really isn't that bad.....

No its not bad it was just more of a surprise that got me. Im glad to get it out if the way though

I kind of want to get bitten so that I won't be scared of it anymore. I have two super chill snakes, though. Never say never, I suppose, one of them could have a bad day...
My husband is terrified of getting bit. I put my hand out to take Jackson from him the other day, and Jacks got a little spooked and jumped back, and my husband seriously yelled at me. "Be careful while I'm holding this!" Haha...:rolleyes:

Well, don't feed your snakes for 2 weeks or so, then rub rat/mouse all over your hands and reach into the enclosure. Look away so you don't see it happen and end up trying to avoid it. Once you feel it, you'll realize it's nothing.

hahaha yea i guess that could be one way to get bit

This sounds like a great idea, but I would be afraid they would latch on and try and eat my hand haha. That's much different than a quick bite.

Ive been bit only once by a bp. Not really that bad at all. I was picking her up to clean her enclosure and I could tell she was in a pissy mood. I lifted her out and got the water dish with the other hand and saw her head move really fast but didnt realize she bit me til i saw blood on my arm lol. It took me a second to realize what happened, i thought i had scratched myself on something!

Congrats, LOL! I've been tagged probably 10+ times, and it's never been that bad... certainly not as bad as a rat bite, or a good scratch/bite from one of my cats! Most recently my usually docile pastel, Toby, took a bite out of me for no reason at all. He's been a little cranky & reactive lately, I think because he just started eating again after a long fast - so he's apparently got quite the appetite now. Anyway, unless we're talking about a hot or giant, it's really nothing to fear. ;)
