When should i start to worry
How much weight should my bp lose before i get worried. She was 144g now she is 140g this is my first bp
Re: When should i start to worry
It probably just took a poop. If you are feeding regualarly and it is eating and keeps losing weight, then I would get worried. 4 grams is nothing.
Re: When should i start to worry
I got her in november husbandry is as follows: 10 gal glass terrarium. Hot side 90 cold side 83 ambient ranges from 79-81. Humidity 50-70, hot and cold side temps are checked with a temp gun and the ambient and humidity are checked with an accurite. Two identical hides that are a little large for her so i put in some moss to make the hides tighter. Clean water bowl. I dont handle her unless im weighing her. Tried feeding live rat pups and mice so far. She has not eaten since 12/15. I have a thermostat with the uth an a ir heat lamp for ambient temps. She took her first mouse meal no problem. Second rat meal she didnt eat on time but took it the following week. The next week she ate a rat pup on feeding schedule. She refused the following week so i switched to a mouse and she took it no problem. I cleaned her cage and changed her substrate a few days later. When i was doing that i was holding her and she defecated. It was runny and smelled horrible. That was the last meal she took and has refused ever since. Ive tried both live mice and rats. She show no interest in anything i try to offer her.
Re: When should i start to worry
A runny defecation isn't normal and might be something to be concerned about. Where did you get her from? 4 Grams isn't much to be concerned about yet, and hopefully she will eat soon. It sounds like she prefers mice, so I would leave a live weaned mouse in her cage overnight.
When she does defecate again, I would save it and send it to a vet to check for parasites. You can probably go to the vet ahead of time to get a container for the stool sample.
Re: When should i start to worry
She finally took a feeder on friday. I put a grey rat pup in her cage and she took it right away.

Yay! If her next defecation looks normal, I wouldn't worry about the one runny poop, but definitely take it in to be tested for parasites if it looks abnormal again.
