    Losing spurs during breeding?
This morning my female shed, so I put my male in with her and they locked within the hour. Tonight, I went and did my nightly snake check, and when I looked in their tub, there was blood and they were apart. I checked them both over and noticed that my male has lost both spurs and my female has lost one.

Will this be detrimental to future breeding?

No. It happens. They will grow back but it takes a while and they will be very small for awhile. I had a male that was such a crazy breeder that he lost his spurs. He still bred multiple females successfully.

...and this morning they were locked again. I guess I jumped the gun with the question, lol.

Lol yep! The spurs are used more for stimulating the female I believe. The males rub their spurs along the females back and then under her stimulating her to lift her tail and be more receptive. I don't believe they help much with the actual lock. If the female is receptive the male can penetrate her. Considering that locks are always slightly crooked or sideways, most of the time their spurs are no where near touching each others.
