    Accurate thermometer
I went on a quest today to find a nice probe thermometer. Something more accurate than those stick-on LCD ones. Wal-mart employees looked at me like i was crazy and the Lowe's had a pH meter for soil.

I was wondering, would a kitchen thermometer work? Something say like this?

Also, for those who read my other post. I bought a rheostat. I felt the glass again today and it was frickin' hot. So I said huh-uh and bought a rheostat.

You can get these at Wall*Mart, they are usually by the light bulbs/AC filters. most people on here use them. They cost $12

Does the probe take humidity too? Or do you have to have the thermometer in the egg box/cage?

the probe only measures temperature. The thermometer itself has a second temperature sensor and the humidity sensor...so yes if you want to measure humidity the entire thing will need to be inside the enclosure

There is a sticky in the DIY section to remove the humidity sensor and make it external.

That is true, but you have to be very careful not to alter the resistance value by adding more wire, this will change how the sensor reads.
