    Petco/Petsmart?
I understand those chain pet stores are pretty much good for nothing, but has anyone considered that maybe they would help us fight these ridiculous bans they are starting to pass all over the country? I mean, they will lose millions in sales for reptile care products (good or not...mostly not  ) and animals themselves, it directly affects them just like it does us. The only difference between them and us is they have the money to blow on this fight already. Maybe if we start writing letters to their CEOs describing how these bans will affect their multimillion dollar business maybe they will help out? Maybe I'm completely wrong, not sure...just a thought I had.

I think that there is some potential with this, but we would need USARK or an organization like USARK to approach petco/petsmart at the highest levels.

You have a good idea, and I've seen people mention it before, it just seems it won't catch on..

The main force that would choose whether they help us or not is "how will it effect them?" Petmarts and Petco have customers on both sides of the fields. And TBH, they would probably make there choice to what side (if any..) that would benefit them the most

Nether the less, it's still a good idea to try.

I think PetSmart and PetCo are actively involved with the very organizations that back the python ban, so I doubt there's much hope there.

Can always try Petland, since they don't have a very pleasant history with HSUS.

I don't think associating with a known puppy-mill distributor will help us any in the eyes of most people...I disagree with HSUS on most counts, but Petland is pretty awful.

I don't know about corporate policy at Petco, but I do know the one near my house collects donations at the cash register for local shelters, not HSUS. I made a point of asking one time when they requested a donation.

I just attempt to avoid pet stores for everything but food and tanks, other than that I agree about avoiding them. if we want the ban lifted, the power and influence needs to come from us owners. However the concept of using a bigger business is a good one.

Petco and Petsmart contribute to PIJAC.

    They also contribute to HSUS.

You will also find that many pet product manufacturers contribute both ways........

Which is why I very rarely ever shop at either but if I have to, I never hit "yes" when asked if I want to donate to help pets in need. I donate to PIJAC, USARK, and whoever else actually deserves it individually and directly. As should everyone.

I went to PetSmart for a Job interview as Head Animal Care Manager. Starting pay $18 n hour, and when I was reading over the Companies TOS and what they stand for, I seen they Donate 20k A year to HSUS. I got up and LEFT that job behind, regardless how good the pay is. I was called next day by the Company asking what happened, and i told them I dont Work nor support those that put money in HSUS pockets.

They both petco and petsmart donate A LOT to HSUS annually.

Well, write each of them a letter, and tell them why they should stop doing so. I just did.
