What to add to my new tank?
I'm setting up a 40 gallon breeder tank and will be moving over my freshwater stone fish and my 3 needle fish(silver gar), and am wondering what other tank mates might be good to go with them. Thanks in advance.

How big is the stonefish? Im not familiar with them at all...
I always love neon tetras, you could get a school of like 10 of them. Maybe a crayfish too to help keep the tank clean. Cichlids are prettty cool too. Figure out which ones you like and maybe get a few trios of them. Some species are compatible and some arent though so make sure you read up carefully about them. I always found cichlids to be very cool and would love to setup a huge tank dedicated to them someday. LiveAquaria.com is a good place to browse for fish.

i agree with you Mike41793. all the fishes are nice and increase the beauty of tank. LiveAquaria.com is the best website for information and also for providing knowledge about fishes. see it and get the enough information of fish.

I'm not sure on those types of fish tankmate wise, but Monsterfishkeepers.com and Aquariacentral.com have some helpful and knowledgeable people that can give you advice. Good luck :)

Not sure you have too much room to play with.

What to add to my new tank
    hi,

you want to add some other water species in to your aquarium or tank , in my opinion jewel fish is a great idea to add in a tank , it's a very beautiful fish and also it will increase your tank's beauty on the other option you can also go for discus fish they are also very beautiful for water tank and they are also very social and love to live with other fishes.... so u can add these types of species in your new tank

If im not mistaken silver gar are north American fish, most of the fish people here have been suggesting are from tropical waters. Gar are also predators, so small fish in general would not be a good idea. I really dislike when people mix fish from different regions together.... fish have very specific water requirements, and can live quite a long time when properly cared for, I have some that are over 10 years old and thriving.

Just realized origional post is from beginning of the year... hate when old stuff gets dug up!
