Thermostat wise, people always recommend the high dollar ones. I simply use a hydrofarm one I got off of amazon for 25 bucks. I check my temps every day and ive yet to have a problem. http://reptilebasics.com/ is a great site for flexwatt and you can grab a temp gun off them while youre at it.

I have a VE-200 (vivarium electronics) and love it. It has a few diff things you can program into it and the option for a night drop setting.

I too use a hydrofarm. It works great.
But I'm going to upgrade soon. I was on a budget when I first started so that was the best option for me at the time.

And I agree with going w/ reptilebasics.

I love the Herpstats. they cost more but work much better. The Hydrofarms are not proportional, which means that they turn your heat source at full blast until your desired temperature is achieved, then turn off until your enclosure gets to a temperature that you set as the lowest acceptable. Proportional thermostats vary the amount of power going to the heat source to keep your enclosure at the desired temperature.

started with a hyrdofarm, then went to a helix that i liked a little bit, then i invested 320$ into a herpstat pro. By far the BEST one ive worked with, if your willing to pay the price, i got a temp gun or rbi, but you can get 25$ ones from home depot/lowes tht work good

With a hydrofarm my temps are right at where i need them to be about 88-92. All my snakes eat and shed beautifully. I dont see a point in spending much more for no actual gain.
