Finally Eating. When Can I Breed?
Hey all!! My breeding plans this year was to pair up my male albino with my female spider. My albino decided to go off feed for about 3 months. Great timing right? He finally ate something last night. I don't want to rush him into a breeding cycle just yet. So how long do you guys think I should wait to start pairing him up (only if he continues to consistently eat each week)? Thanks.

Depends, how old is he, how much does he weigh, and what condition is he in? Many males will routinely go off feed during breeding season. Its possible that he went off feed cause he was interested in breeding, Ive been pairing mine since september.

He's about 2-2.5 years old and last time i weighed him he was around 1250g. Ill have to check his weight again in a day or 2.

So could it be that he won't be interested? I guess I'll have to see.

He is fine to breed. I have been breeding my little enchi male (he was a little over 550g his first lock) and he's my best breeder in addition to still eating like a pig. Some males will eat during breeding season, others won't. As long as you watch them to make sure they aren't over doing it and losing too much weight then it's okay to breed fasting males.

Oh he's fine to breed! Older males especially will tend to go off feed. Offer as usual and monitor his weight but he's good to go.

And I'm sure he will be more than interested. It's breeding season that's what boys do. They have more than food on their minds during this time of the year.
