Hello I just recently got my first reptiles which are 3 bearded dragons. Since then I have decided that I want to continue to add to my collection and I decided that I want a ball python! I was at a reptile expo this weekend and saw some very nice ones. I thought I'd wait a little longer until I purchase one to make sure I have done all the reasearch and make sure I have everything I need! This site has been very helpful and I have learned a lot. If there is any advice you would like to give to a first time snake owner it would be really appreciated! Thank you and I look forward to learning more from this site!

Welcome to BP.net! You'll me a LOT of great people on here that are more than willing to help you out with anything you need! A few things I would say:

    1) Wait a little longer and be 100% positive you're ready and willing to make a comitment to the
    responsibilities of a ball python.
    2) I've found its much easier to maintain correct husbandry using a tub than a tank. Theres a
few sticky threads in the ball python husbandry you may want to check out!
    3) If you get one, you'll get two, if you get two you'll get three.....etc etc. lol

    Hi,

    Welcome to the site. :)

One of the best bits of advice I can give is have the setup up and running for a week or so before you plan on getting the actual snake - there is always some last minute tweaking and temp adjustments to be done and it is a lot easier with an empty tank. :gj:

Also buy a good book so you have something to do in the first week where you leave the snake to settle in - otherwise it will be all you can think of. :P
