Wondering what this white spot is on the side of my ball python...
Hello, I'm new to this site and new to being an official owner of a ball python. I purchased her last sunday, and she had a white spot on her side.. I believe it may have been left over from her last shed, but I haven't bathed her in warm water yet to see if it would rub off. And she hasn't shed since I've had her. I've talked to a couple people in the store that told me they own pythons also, and I've searched the web to find what it may be. I found this website and everyone seems to be very nice and very knowledgeable. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it! Thank you in advance..

It looks like a little bit of stuck shed to me. I would just give her a quick soak and see if she rubs it off afterwards.

    Welcome to the forum. :welcome:

it's a piece of stuck shed. I wouldn't even worry about it.

Be careful most people at pet stores don't know anything about reptiles. This website will be your most reliable source of information :D

Yeah they seemed really nice but seeing as this is a site dedicated to snakes and tons to ball pythons I thought I'd go with yalls advice. The guy who worked at the pet store didn't even know what to tell me... I didn't think it'd it was bothering her so I wasn't super worried.. Another question though, I have been doing as much research about them as I possibly can without actually having to ask people, but the humidity in her terrarium, I try to keep it at about 60%. Is that about right or should it go up or down some?

Congrats on the acquisition... I've been told that 60% humidity is fine, and then bump it up to 70% during shedding, but hopefully someone more experienced will chime in and either correct me or affirm my research so far :D

My cages stay between 50% and 60% all the time.

As long as you keep the humidity between 40% and 60% you are fine. During shed bump up the humidity to 60%-80%

It sounds like you are good.
