That's not food.

So here is the story. I was staying at my mom's house for five weeks with my snake, and I came back to my apartment today, only to find half of my power is out. So I had to set my snake up in a completely different spot in the house, and since I was fiddling around trying to do this, she was in her travel tub a little longer than I would like, so I put her 40 hr heat pack in the tank with her while the UTH warmed up.

Don't worry, it has been activated since yesterday and is burning at 89 degrees, no burn danger, it is dying. But the hilarious thing is, she shed last night and I haven't fed her while she was in shed, so she is ravenous, and I am feeding her later tonight. But then I saw this. Her food always comes through the door right where I put the heat pack, so here she is hungry and there is a big hot thing right there, but no prey scent. She is just starting at with her neck ready to strike at it if it all of the sudden takes on any rodent like properties. Poor thing!

If you had a power outtage recently and snake was exposed to cold, skip feeding tonight.

But it sounds like she had a successful shed! Did you use the damp towel trick while transporting?

From reading the op the bp was with them the whole time, the snake would be fine to feed. To the op, cool story, pretty bp, and good luck getting everything back to normal...:gj:

Yes, the outage occurred in the apartment when neither the snake or I were here. It was a blown fuze obviously, but I could not for the life of me find the box to fix it. My landlord called me back and told me it was in the closet in the most inconvenient inconspicuous place imaginable. Because the closet light was out AND my flashlight battery died 30 seconds after I turned it on (it has been one of THOSE days) I had to grope around in the dark with my cell phone light. Found it, got the lights back, and the snake set up in her normal spot in the living room. She had no problem eating, even with her big day: car ride, and two different set ups. She's pretty laid back, I though for sure she would be completely stressed and over it by now, but she took her dinner and went to bed, happy as could be.

She actually shed last night!!! And it was PERFECT in a neat little lump inside the humid hide, all it one piece! So I didn't need the damp towel trick! But I will SO use it if she does that again. I will need to travel with her just one more time. I will be staying at my mom's house again for about 3 months right before I get married this summer. So, we will need to move all over again, but that should be it for at least a few years. :)
