    Python Setup Idea
On the other thread I posted about my python getting loose and eventually dying. for those who didnt see it click the link to read up.http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...possibly-dying I posted about me not being able to keep him in the house so he's in the garage. I can get one and keep him in a tub I'm just confused on how that works

More of a description of your enclosure or rack you intend on using will help everyone help you.

I really don't intend on using a rack since I don't have the snake yet and it will only be 1 snake. I just intend on using a tub to house it for now.

What type of tub? And how is it letting your bp get loose? Does it not have a secure top?

This is how a tub set up works.

You get a tub (if you aren't getting a rack then it also needs a good tight fitting lid)

Use a soldering iron, drill, or anything else that can poke holes in the tub. These holes let air in and help to regulate humidity.

You will need a UTH that covers approxametly 1/3 of the bottom of the tub. This will create the hot side. The UTH must be regulated by a thermostat. If money is tight you can get a hydrofarm thermostat for $30 but there are far better thermostats like the Herpstat.

The thermostat probe needs to be attached to the UTH or inside the tub. Regardless it needs to be secured so it can't move. I use hot glue for this. Just don't put any on the probe itself. Also do not use aluminum tape as it can mess with the probes readings.

Next you put your substrate in the tub, I would sugest newspaper or something similar.

You will need 2 hides. 1 that goes over the UTH and the other goes on the cool side.

You place a water bowel in the middle.

You should also have a thermometer/hydrometer in the tub. You can get this one at Wall*Mart for $12:

For more information check out this post, it is a step by step with pictures:

Just a quick note I really don't recomend using a tub if you will still be keeping a snake in your garage. I really don't think any set up will work but UTH's don't really effect air temperature so if it gets cold you will have problems.

Hold on I'm confused do you already have another snake? And it already got loose?

To help secure a tub with a lid you can use luggage straps.

Well I would just do what serpentmerchant said and take the extra 10 seconds next time to care for your animal properly. Don't mean to sound harsh but it seems that your past problems were just human error.

Your right it was my fault, next time I know to double check to make sure it's secure
