If it's only a year old, (not too likely), then it has been horribly powerfed and will only last another year anyway. Sad if it's true, and bad advertising if it isn't true. Either way the person is shady.

    What? That's a stretch. LOL.

Power fed boas will RARELY make it past 4 years of age, MANY MANY MANY die even younger than that, so no, it wasn't a stretch.

Now it's 4 years? A minute ago it was 12 months. How many is "MANY MANY MANY"? What are the numbers? Percentages? Have you studied this phenomenom yourself or is this information that someone is feeding you? (did anyone catch that? :D )

There is no scientific evidence to support the theory that power feeding alone leads to a shortened lifespan in reptiles.

If you have documented evidence to the contrary, please post it or provide a link.

i have to go with adam on that. I have searched all over and never found and records that prove powerfeeding can actually kill a snake. The majority of stuff I have read seems like "word of mouth" type info with no actual data.

I feed my male bp on a 5 day cycle. I do not consider this powerfeeding like some would. I also have talked to breeder who feed a smaller sized meal every 3 days to increase growth rate. I do not consider that power feeding. I consider power feeding to be feeding every 24-48 hours and using high temps to speed up digestion.

IMO...powerfeeding is not good for several reasons (if I am wrong about any of these let me know):
-it can cause the snake to go off feed
-bulking a female up to breeding size really fast will not always result in a female that will breed so you might as well take your time
-excessive feeding requires buying more food items and more enclosure cleaning (both of which are not my favorite thing to do)
-because there is no data to support it or disprove this theory, you are taking a risk

    Just my 0.02.

I can't conceive of it being only a year old, and already 6'. That just seems completely impossible in my book. Then again, my book never did get published. ;)
Reptibid scares me too, Justcage. I sold one snake awhile ago on there for a friend, but never bought anything on there. My other friend bought beardies off of a seller there, and had a bunch of probs with them.

I love when people make statements like they have done some research. Please doctor, let us know where you get the info from.
