Normal BP genetic?

I think my normal BP is darker than quite a few I see in pics.
I'm thinking of getting a real dark female normal and keep breeding dark bp to darker, to darker, etc.
Do you think I would end up with something neat? Would I finally end up with a all dark brown BP or is it just by chance that you get dark normals or is it genetic? thanks

Well, you couldn't create a solid brown snake, but if dark is your thing, give it a whirl.

I have successfully bred light to light and made babies even lighter than the parents, so it should work in reverse.

I see really dark females from time to time, so keep your eyes open and wait for the darkest girl you can find, and see what happens.

We dont know that much about genetics to say definite yes or know but many breeders will tell You that the high Quality normal will affect outcome of morph... i know few ppl who when they breed multigene male to normal female they make sure that female will be really nice example...

I think with selective/line breeding You will get darker and darker normals with will enhance later dark morphs like sable black pastel or cinny....

You certainly could selectively breed ball pythons to produce nearly-black snakes...given enough time and effort. It would probably take a while.
Which is not to say that isn't a worthwhile project--it certainly is. A line of extremely dark snakes would be in high demand for improving dark morphs, and producing very light albinos.

I believe NERD has been working on a line of selectively bred high yellow normals.
