    Lemon Pastel from Craigslist? Advice?
So I came across an ad on CL just now. A new snake owner recently got a normal female and a lemon pastel male that is 16-18" long. The owner says they feel more comfortable with the female, and is getting rid of the male lemon pastel for $80.

All the photos are very dark, but these two are the best the owner had.

From those pics, any idea of it is an actual lemon pastel? Should I go for it?

Looks like a very low quality pastel, you won't be able to confirm the line of pastel by pictures.

Pics look good for a pastel, couldn't tell if lemon or another variety tho.
On a plus note, its blushing on the back is awesome.

Sent from my phone, to the Internet, to your screen.

The best advice I've ever gotten when it comes to buying pastels is to dismiss lines completely and buy what is nice. That way there is no disappointment or confusion, and you end up with a nice snake. By the pictures, there's absolutely no way to tell if that's a nice pastel or not, but there is always something to be said for extreme blushing.

It's already browned along the top and no, you cant claim a line if it's not from a breeder. Just a pet from someone on CL you really can't be positive if they don't have a traceable name.

This seems very strange to me

"The owner says they feel more comfortable with the female, and is getting rid of the male lemon pastel"

Personally I would stay away from this, just my $0.02

Hmmm, okay. I'll do some more thinking. Maybe I should just shut up and enjoy my normal guy. All these morphs on here make me jealous. :P

I know the feeling. I would suggest saving up and buying a higher quality animal from a reputable breeder. I got a male pastel from Justin Kobylka for $75 with most of the big breeders websites of they don't have something you like posted just shoot them an email. Chances are they have what you are looking for.

This is the male pastel I got from Justin:

When I got this male and my female pastel from Justin I didn't have to worry about how they were being shipped or what condition they were in. Peace of mind is priceless, and while you can never be 100% guaranteed that any animal that you buy online will be in good health and exactly what you paid for, but with reputable breeders you get as close as you ever will.

If your normal is a male then save some $$ for a female morph hatchling. That makes the most sense.

NARBC is going to be hitting all across the USA very soon now. It's one of the largest and best shows. Are there any others anywhere neat you? I'm sure you will find something much nicer at a price you can afford at a show. Save up a couple hundred and you get something really nice.

Those photos look like the ones I took with my Sony Alpha NEXC3K.

The camera has the ability to take B/W photos that leave one specific color in it, such as yellow, red, blue, green, etc.

Is the snake where you can go see it first or is it a ship-to-you deal?

If it's the latter, I'd be very wary unless they can provide other, excellent quality photos.
