Where to find Mizuri or Harlan block in CA????
I've been buying rodent blocks from my local hardware store. I'm looking to upgrade to Harlan or Mazuri.
Does anyone in Northern California know of a local dealer? I've looked at Mazuri's website's dealer page and it only shows livestock and exotic feed in my area.
Online shipping is $70 for a $20 bag. Crazy huh!!! And I don't have enough rats to do autoship on petfooddirect/nationalpetpharmacy. It seems ridiculous to pay shipping that cost more than the product....
The nearest rodent breeder I know that uses lab blocks lives hours away. The rest use mixed feed or dog food....So doubling up on an order doesn't seem possible....
*sigh* -____-

I drizzle between Davis and the East Bay. I go to university in Davis and my parents live close to Berkeley.

I'm still pretty new to breeding rats. I started with 1.3 in October and raised them from pups. I got a 40lb bag of Native Earth just before Thanksgiving and I probably have about half a bag left. I don't know exactly how much since I divided up the blocks into smaller storage bins. I recently had 3 litters the past 3-4 weeks and noticed the females were eating more as they were nursing. So, I am guessing that a bag will last me about 3-4 months with 1.3 rats. I could be wrong though since they are now breeding. I was planning on ordering more at the end of Feb. If you are interested in a few bags I can order it now but you would have to pick up here.

I'm from East Bay myself. Here are some websites, the top 2 are companies that sell locally in San Jose, and the 3rd link is the Northern California Rat Community if you are interested in that. Could be useful since it's local.
