Cleaning half log hides vs throwing it in the garbage
Newman took a nice dump on his half log hide; right on top.
I put it in the shower and hosed it down, but it didn't clean up very well so I threw it in my backyard and put an old margarine container in for a temporary hide.
Do you guys have any luck cleaning the half logs? Probably just going to get another fake rock hide.

A 10% bleach solution and a good stiff brush would work but I am not fond of half log hides. They dont give the security of a hide that most snakes prefer. My snakes will rarely use them and I have since replaced them all with rock hides or hides made from plastic flower pots.

I would chuck the half log. They look nice, but are really not great. Pita to clean, not secure enough for a ball hide. Go with the fake looking rocks you can wash, planter bottoms, tupperware from the dollar store. Imo.

They work excellent in times of need.
If you get a bad shed you can add that half log hide to the soak tub to help the snake remove the old shed ;)
It's really the only thing those logs are good for :P
I had never thought of that thanks for sharing the GREAT idea :D
