Tips For Reluctant Breeders?

Ive been breeding for 3 years, and all 3 years were a complete sucess for me. Now my bee male (proven) just wont lock up with my female pastel. The pastel is 1900+ grams but they wont lock up. I tried leaving a tissue with another male and puttin it in with them, and that didnt work. Im not new at this so i know what im doing, but i cant seem to get them to breed. Any tips?

More than likely it isn't your male as much as it's probably the female just not ready and eager to breed. The females really need to be willing and that can sometimes be the hard part for me. You just gotta be patient and keep attempting through the cycles and hope for a lock. Good luck!

Urg. this is annoying me now because she has follicular development, i feel them. is it possible that she just dosent like the male? and her eyes are looking a bit blue. is it possible shes not breeding because of shed? (it cant be a pre ovulation shed because i just started pairing a few weeks ago)

oh and she wasnt close to shed when i started pairing

My het Clown females will happily 'snuggle' with the het Clown male but act like they're losing their minds with the obscenely expensive Bee.

He's from Kobylka and is a "proven male" who is said to have been an aggressive, succesful breeder but he shows no interest in -any- of my females at all.
[all 3 are proven breeders with successful previous clutches]

He's trying to get away from them just as hard as they're trying to get away from him.

I've left the paper in from the het/het snuggle fest and thrown in a recent shed from a randy proven Pastel, just for good measure.

Got nuthin'.

All the girls act like they just hate him.

He cost too much to just be a very decorative pet.....:(

Are you positive 100% sure that your bee is in fact a male? A quick probing couldnt hurt...Ive never bred before so thats the only thought i could offer.

the bee is a proven breeder he bred to my normal last year so that cant be it.. and he dosent try to escape he just snuggles up to her with no lock :mad: i really want him to breed my female pastel this year.. i could use killer bees and super pastels...

I guess ill just try again after her shed. Its not possible its a pre ovulation shed right? Because theve only been pairing for a few weeks

I don't have a probe kit yet but I'd reckon Justin knew whether it was a boy or not.

I could always toss the het male in with the Bee and see...:)
