    why does my male pastel do this????
    My pastel ball python will eat once a week small rat for a straight month ,then he decides to not eat for 3 weeks, then goes back to eating once a week, hes not loosing wait or anything all the temps are right just dont understand why

    He may be eating weird due to breeding season. How big is he? Does anything change during those times he doesn't eat (ie., temp or humidity changes, rat size, etc.)?

    All temps and humidity stay the same , the rat is always small never bigger , hes always out and about in his cage just constanly exploring his 10 gallon hes only 4 months old but i have other snakes that dont do this , they eat just fine never skip a meal

    While he explores his cage for 3 weeks not eating he flicks his tongue out faster then ever

    Hi,

    Have you tried feeding him a smaller rat?

    If he is only 4 months old then a small rat is a fairly large meal for him - what weight is he?
