Grass?

I have a wonderful four year old ball python I call Leben :) I want to make his tank setup look more natural. Is it safe to grow grass or some sort of plant in his tank(a 40 gallon)? if not then whats the best way to make his tank look natural?

Grass would be safe as long as theres no pesticides or fertilizers in it or the soil you grow it in. Idk if it would be feasible to grow grass and keep proper temps in the tank though? There are probably other plants that would grow better in those temps/humidity. Devils Ivy is pretty hardy so growing that would be easy.

There is an actual terrarium grass, you would need UV lights tho. I think most reptile specialty shops carry it... I know that uromastyx like to eat the seeds.

Eco Earth Coco husk substrate is a really nice, natural looking substrate is you want something a little easier. Anything live in the tank does look great, but of course is more time and maintenance. If you have the time and it's what you want, then by all means, go for it! I have a naturalistic set up, but nothing is real, so cleanup is great! Rock water dish, lots of fake plants.... of course, to each his own. There are lots of ways to make a gorgeous set up. It all depends on your style and the amount of time you have to maintain it. :D

grass it's self is not harmful to BP's. Their natural habitat is in the grasslands of Africa.
