Carpets in Racks?
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone keeps their carpets in a large rack system? I know there are some pretty big tubs out there. 58 qt and up seems to fit the floor space for carpets.
Has anyone kept adult carpets in a rack system? Right now I am keeping mine in 4x2's but wondered if they would do fine in a rack.
After doing a good amount of research on Morelia spilota for a term paper I found that most research states they are more a terrestrial species, except for maybe imbricata.

I've seen lots of people keep them in racks with great success. I keep them in racks as well.

I keep one of mine in a rack with a perch and shes fine.

Thanks for the replies. I might have to get a large rack then. Im looking to start breeding some high end Morelia and a rack situation would be the best.
Thanks!

The breeder I bought my blood python from uses a storage drawer from IKEA with some slight modifications to house his adult bloods. IDK if that would be something you might be interested in.

Re: Carpets in Racks?
They can be kept in racks - within reason. Monster carpets would probably do better in 4ft cages and might be cramped in something like a CB70 size tub. But smaller to medium size carpets do just fine in racks. Here's a pic of a female from last year sitting on a perfect 9 egg clutch - in a CB70 tub. I have quite a few that eat, breed, and lay clutches all in a CB70 rack. :) http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...1/DSC_0289.jpg

Sounds good. I was even looking at the rack boamaster has with the 74 qt tubs. They are almost the size of the 4 foot cages. And he sells a 10 stack rack for 550, but then I have to consider shipping, tubs and heating. But it still beats buying 10 cages.
Jon- What is the largest carpet you keep in your CB70 tubs?

I'd have to say in the 4-5 ft range. Most of my adult carpets are on the smaller side though. I don't have any real monsters.
You could always build some cages..............melamine is the way to go for cheap, decent looking cages. At home depot, you can get a sheet of 8' x 4' melamine for $30 which will make the shell of one 4ft cage. Then spend a few extra bucks on glass, some pvc perches, and a light fixture and you can build a decent 4ft cage for under $75.

I've tried looking into building some melamine cages but lowes doesnt seem to carry large melamine sheets and there are no home depot's too near by. I would love to build a bunch of those melamine cages though! Hmm, Maybe ill go that route.
Thanks again Jon!
