Why leave your bed to eat?
Tomorrow is feeding say, but I am leaving tomorrow afternoon for a short vacation, so I wanted to get a meal in my girl tonight. She was out nosing around, so I started defrosting. Of course, by the time I was ready to feed, she was stuffed in her humid hide like a little punk. If she is in a normal hide, I just lift it off her, but the humid hide has a lid, so I have to really disturb her to get it open, which I figured would kill her appetite, and when she goes in it in the first place, it usually means she is going into shed and has no interest in being bothered. Well, since I had the prey ready, I figured I might as well try, and thought maybe if I just held it over the entrance hole, it would entice her to come out and get it.
Well, she shot out of there so fast part of the tail broke off in the feeding tongs:P Then she dragged it right back in there. I knew there was no way she had enough room to shuffle around and swallow it in that thing, so I had to open it. Didn't bother her any.

Aaaaaaad, then she fell over. Which was one of the most pitiful things I have ever seen. That freaked her out a little bit, she shot back to her other hide faster than I have ever seen her move:( Poor little thing. Not exactly a great way to end a meal. But, all is well.

So, yeah, that's what I just did just now instead of packing.... Off to Palm Springs! Bye for now!

Lazy bum!
I have a friend that has a cat that weighs at least 22ish pounds. Crazy fat lazy thing. Infact, the cat is so lazy, he lays down on his side to eat from his food dish. Imagine Jabba the Hutt and you got a pretty good picture.

Thanks, guys! Just got home. :)
She is still in her humid hide after 3 days and looks pretty dull, so poor thing is going into shed. I picked up the whole hide to check on her and she just flicked her tongue at me and glared like "What the heck do you want? Put me back, fool." :P

This is really fascinating that both h00blah and DellaF mention that your normals are great feeders! This girl has only refused one meal for me (and she was in shed, so I don't think it counts) and she strikes HARD, I have to REALLY grip the tongs or she will knock them right out of my hand. When the tail broke off this time, I was just like, "Seriously?! You need to CALM down!" I wonder if there is some kind of correlation between normals being better feeders than morphs? This is my only snake, so I have no basis of comparison, but I KNOW my snake is not a problem feeder by any stretch of the imagination *knock on wood*. Interesting. Probably just a coincidence, but an interesting one. Yay for hungry normals! :D
