    My first show pickup
So I headed out to my first reptile show on Sunday (I ALWAYS have to work on the Sundays that the shows are) the Midwest Reptile Show here in Indy. I know that it is a rather small show as most local shows are, but there were plenty of vendors and lots of cool animals there!

While making my rounds I came across the table for Gaspar Reptiles, a name I had heard before, but didn't know much about. They were started by the late Jim Gaspar, who had been working with retics since the 80's, and due to his untimely death his son, Jason, has carried on the business. Anyway I have always found retics gorgeous, especially the tigers and super tigers, and he had one there that really caught my eye.

Due to a larger than expected inventory he has selling his tigers all at the same price, and it just so happened that he had a beautiful (the stand out of the table) tiger het lav albino male for a killer price. So we talked for 20 mins or so, but my gut told me I needed to stay focused on my boa projects, and not pick up a "pet". So I left the show empty handed.

After much thought, I decided to go back to the show and purchase that retic. It just so happens that I had an open boaphilesx 4x2x1 heated and ready to go, just waiting for a new snake! So without further ado here is my new baby giant!

I know that they are crappy cell phone pics, but they will have to due for now...he doesn't seem to like the camera much, and let me know by tagging my hand!!

Yea I couldn't be happier...I will probably kick myself when tax return time comes around and I need to buy yet another cage for whatever I decide to buy then, but for now I am very pleased!

Yeah you have to be careful at expos, their like the High Times Cannabis Expos for potheads...you walk out broke and happy, then regret it later.

I always try to keep my minimum down to $100 per show. I always spend about $60. But then again i collect Colubrids, and thank god their cheaper.

lol yea I know exactly what you mean! I kinda took the same principal, I only brought 200...and after mice/rats and parking fees and admission I only had 100 left...just the perfect amount for my new guy!

Very nice! Having had both boas and retics, I can say without a doubt that you will be happy with him. You have (in my opinion) now the 2 coolest breeds of snake :)
