not sure what hes doing

my python is rubbing his face really hard against the objects in his tank i know they do this while shedding but hes not? Also last time he shed the skin didnt come off the top of his head and the lil bugger wont let me get it off its been there for weeks but doesnt seem to bother him. this is my first snake and im learning but he just does weird stuff sometimes.

well, he might be trying to get the left over unshedded skin off his head. Whenever a snake of any sort finishes a shed? You should handle it (maybe the next day) and check all over making sure that all of the old skin has come off. Check both eyes make sure there's no cap's,check the very tip of the tail and especially check the under area of the spur's. Eye cap's if left alone can cause eventually blindness. Stuck skin on the spur's may cause them to fall off. If shedded skin is left on the tip of the tail? Then it can restrict blood flow.
I would take a warm damp wash cloth and run your bp thru it a few times and gently rub his head. You can't just leave unshedded skin on a snake. You also need to figure out how to keep proper humidity.

i got the rest off and the eyecaps are off theres just this bit around his head right behind his eyes i cant get he freaks if i try and soak him and hes crazy fast and wont let me get the stuff off he had some on his tail and a few other places and had no issue letting me get that i just cant touch his face. the herp vet i asked said wait for him to shed again but that seemed odd so i figured ide ask.

The vet was correct, just let him shed again and it will be all in the past. Just make sure that the enclosures temperatures are right (88-92 on the hot side and 78-82 on the cool side) and that you maintain the humidity between 40% and 60% normally. When his eyes turn blue bump up the humidity to 60% to 80%.

There are other things that can cause a snake to rub against things, but if the temperatures and humidity levels are correct, he doesn't have mites and the enclosure is clean and of proper size you shouldn't be worried unless this continues after he sheds again.

its been a month and a half since he shed with no signs of it happening any time soon and im starting to worry (mainly just cus im a worrier) but if the general opinion is let it be till then then thats what ill do if it happens again ill take him to the vet

May snake had a terrible shed right after I got her because she was shipped to me in the beginning of her shed cycle. Humidity nightmare. If you just have one little stuck patch and it isn't a dangerous one (not eye caps or around the tip of the tail) which you said it isn't, then no harm in waiting til the next shed. My girl had a long patch of it stuck and I finally just gave up and waited. Came off beautifully next time.

As stated, make sure your humidity is good and all is well.

Stuck shed anywhere on the head can be a nightmare because as you have experienced, they want nothing to do with being touched there. You don't have anything to worry about in this situation, just let it come off with the next shed.

Check the enclosure, where the snake is rubbing it's face. Look for dried mucus. Check the snake out for other possible symptoms of a Respiratory Infection.

no signs of RI and hes eating just fine ill keep an eye out for that tho im not sure wer a good herp vet is in pgh pa but ill find one if it gets any worse what would be a good way to get rid of the eye caps if they didnt come off just so i know ive heard use a cotton swab or even a piece of scotch tape
