    HELP! Baby rescue
I just got a new baby red tail from PETCO. He looks like he is seriously malnourished. He is very weak and his skin looks very loose. Also they could not tell us for sure when the last time he was fed, and after letting him relax in his new terrarium for a little while he left a nice surprise in the water dish. Now I cannot tell if it is a regurgitated mouse for if it is just him going to the bathroom. I guess the whole point of this was to ask what does a regurgitated mouse look like as apposed to a mouse that came out the other end?

    Pics will be very helpful!

Do you have him in quarantine since I see you also have a BP (your avatar)?

A regurgitated mouse will not look or smell like poop. Do you have a photo of it?
Most regurges happen within the first 36 hours or so. Unless it was fed in the last 2 days, I doubt it was a regurge...

Yeah... he looks pretty thin to me. Here's my guy now and probably the same age.

That's a mouse lump by his tail ;)

And yuck. That is a regurge. Their poop looks much like a cat turd.

Awe your guy looks exactly the same size/color of the other one that we have that is probably from the same batch as the little guy in the pictures. We got both of them from PETCO but we bought the bigger one about three weeks ago.

The little guy in the pictures wasn't always this small. We kept going in there and checking on him and tonight I finally couldn't take it anymore.

I just would like to find out something I could do to help him because PETCO clearly didn't want to.

Well... everything I have read says to wait 2 weeks after a regurge before feeding again so their stomach can regulate itself. Scary thought with a skinny guy but it would be for the best. I would make sure that his temps and humidity are great, minimal handling, then offer him a mouse after the two week wait. Maybe a hopper would be a good start. I hope he'll turn around for you :(

Yeah that is a very scary thought. He is so weak and can barely curl himself up or wrap around someone's fingers if they hold him.
But thank you for the help! :)
