Need help with some snake myths that I can use for a science fair project!

Hmmmm....

They will only grow to fit the size of the enclosure they are kept in. (Technically something measurable and graph-able, but not sure how you would go about actually experimenting with that. LOL)

They are slimy -- you could measure responses of people touching a snake for the first time? Ask them what they expect to feel...then ask them what they actually felt after they touched it.

They will chase you down -- video different snakes set on the ground and see if they go after a person's feet, or simply wander another direction or try to flee.

Can't think of any other myths off the top of my head. Sounds like something you're going to need to put some creative energy to. ;)

How about...'don't let a snake lay beside you. They're measuring you for food' :rolleyes:

I've heard if you put vanilla on a food prey, it entices the snake even if they are a bad feeder

That they all have fangs? I've heard this before.

Snakes will eat small children.
Give small children a snake.
Record how many small children are eaten, and how many are not.
Your graph could be a pie chart. If all goes according to plan, no small children will be eaten.


Or you could test a snake's ability to escape it's enclosure. Have the snake's regular enclosure inside of a much larger encloser (binception!) and stage different scenarios to see how long it takes the snake to get out. Things like leaving the lid/doors unlocked, no lid, etc.
