It seems we have done reptiles a great disservice when it comes to estimating their intelligence. Apparently, when it comes to brains, size isn't everything. Previous intelligence tests on reptiles were conducted in environments that were simply too chilly for the animal. Correcting that is revealing an entirely different picture of their cognitive abilities, one that rivals and even exceeds the abilities of many birds and mammals.
