Pied breeding

I was speaking with someone who said that pieds should be bred with het pieds, rather than with another visual pied. He said it was something to do with getting cleaner, nicer pieds. Those of you who breed pieds, is that accurate?

Wasn't there a rumor a while back about pied x pied causing blindness also?

Maybe the rumor was started because breeding piebald x piebald (or dapple) causes blindness in some breeds of dogs.
