Holding Luna for the first time
This is my new Lucy Texas Rat Snake i bought about 2 weeks ago at a local expo, shes very snappy (which explains the latex gloves) but i tend to brake her of this nasty habit. Im going to start holding her once a day for a few minutes and get her docile as a pup.

She actualy did very well today, i grabbed her from her enclosure and she didnt even attempt to bite me, but once i had her in my hands she opened her mouth once but didnt bite (i had a friend over though so she might have got scared).

After about 2 mins she calmed down and just rested in my hand and even slithered up my arm.

But anyways here she is! Enjoy!

    Daybreaker
Come on - take the gloves off and live a little!

Totally kidding: she's a nice little thing and will no doubt calm down with time. Congrats on the snapper!

Dude, I am ALL for gloves. Even if the snake is tiny and harmless, no one appreciates getting tagged and gloves just remove that apprehension and make YOU calmer, and therefore the snake calmer, which is what you are trying to accomplish.

Plus, rat snakes are notoriously mean little beasts! Great job working on getting her nice and calm as a little girl! Best of luck! She's beautiful!

Exactly! Iv been working with her so much its to the point were i dont even need them, but theres still that line of trust we have yet to cross, and untill then they stay on. And like you said they keep me relaxed which in return keeps the snake relaxed.

Shes going to be a beauty when shes all grown up. Thanks guys!
