    Dreaming of summer...
Organizing some pics, haven't posted in a while. Here's one our very-all-time-favorites, TBC I Am Legend. Can't wait for this kind of weather again...I love green grass for photographing red snakes!

    Enjoy!

LOL, thanks Lon! I'm running out of names to call Suckerpunch whenever she bites me (well, tries). Uppity little wench. ;)

Beautiful!!!! Do you use hooks for taking out your feisty ones? I'm on my 8th blood and she's a handful. :P

I mostly use hooks for turning off a snake's feeding response. With uppity bloods, I find it easier to just scoop them up from underneath in one smooth motion, and then keep the snake facing away from me. If the animal starts to turn, I turn in the same direction it does, keeping its face pointing away. Usually this keeps the snake distracted enough for me to do whatever I need to get done in handling the animal (i.e. transferring to a holding tub for maintenance, etc).

I'll use the same method for brief but more frequent interaction with a snake that needs a little extra attention in terms of settling down/getting used to handling. They don't need to be held for hours on end in order to tame down...just handled frequently & correctly so they can learn good habits. :)

Wow those snakes look amazing! The green background really makes them pop in the pics.

Thanks! Taking outdoor pics on an overcast day really seems to show off their true colors best. It can't be super cloudy & dark, but when you get that ideal balance of good cloud cover & still well-lit, it really works out well. Now if spring would just get here so I could take good pics of the rest of our critters!
