    Missing Family for Christmas?
    I moved here to Texas at the end of September, and it's my first Christmas away from family and friends.

    I never realized how hard it is to be away from your loved ones at this time of the year! I understand now why there are so many Christmas songs about returning home for the holidays.

    Anyone else missing their family/friends?

    My son will be at his father's house in Michigan for Christmas, it SUCKS. Not looking forward to it. Probably the only thing that keeps me from hating it this year is the fact that I have a boyfriend this year that I actually like :rolleyes:

    The last time I saw my mom and sisters was in July but it's been over a year since I saw everyone else. I'm going home for Christmas but I miss them the rest of the year. I'm in Wisconsin and they are all in New Hampshire or Massachusetts. Thanksgiving and birthdays are just as hard as Christmas. :(

    I hope you can find some way to be home (try video conferencing with them).

    Aww, that does suck. I have a husband, but I often change my mind about whether or not I like him. :P

    Yeah, video conferencing does help. I was always really close to my family, so it's hard not being able to make holiday treats with my mom, or watch movies with my dad and siblings. :(

    I guess we're lucky these days to have airplanes and email and such. I was thinking back on how hard it must have been for people in older times, to leave everything behind and only be able to write letters to their loved ones.

    This Christmas is slightly bittersweet for me. I'm thrilled to be spending it at home with my husband, stepdaughter, and our extended family. At the same time, my traditional Tennessee family Christmas isn't happening until mid-January, when the entire fam could coordinate time to be together.

    Ultimately I'm spending it with family either way, but it doesn't quite seem the same without my mom, dad & brothers there...I guess I'm a sucker for family traditions. At least we get to look forward to creating some new ones. :)

    Due to financial issues, and how much plane tickets cost - I haven't been home in almost a year. I wont be able to go visit for Christmas either. I've been slowly saving up, but plane tickets for overseas is way too expensive =/. Christmas is going to be just me, my snake, and my two fish. I decorated my potted rosemary bush. LOL.

    Let\'s tell our families and friends how much we love them;
    Life is a chain of moments of enjoyment;not only about survival.
