    K-9 Deputy Dies
For all animal lovers out there, there is a K9 Deputy named Fargo from here in South carolina who died in the line of duty. He was apprehending and actually bit on the suspect who then shot him 3 times. Fargo was rushed to the emergency vet and died that morning. The suspect has been caught. I don't know if this is ok to post this on here but there is an address in the story where you can donate money to help get bullet proof vests for these hard working and loyal K9s. Here's the story and details:

    How sad :tears:

It's never easy to lose a coworker, even if it's a dog. I know in my line of work the dogs are treated as if they are family, and are definitely considered one of "the guys". There's another company called Vest-a-dog that works really hard especially in my area but they are nationwide, that make very good bullet proof vests for these guys.

I see the dogs I Soldiers have in Iraq and Afghanistan as bomb sniffers and other things. These guys are doing their duty right along side the Soldiers and Police. I saw a dog whisperer episode where he treated a bomb sniffing dog that had PTSD...it was very interesting to watch and, as weird as it may sound, I know what the dog was going through with PTSD. So to see him get better was really awesome.

As a breeder of German Shepherds, I have a deep afinity and profound respect for these dogs and for police service dogs and military dogs in particular. I was very saddened to learn of Fargo's death. If you have the means, donating for the canine bullet proof vests is a worthy cause. They can save countless lives. These dogs potentially lay down their lives for us every day without thought of themselves. A donation is a small investment of caring and thanks....

This is so sad.. at least Fargo died with honor. My vet tech club (I'm a student) has raised almost $400 these past 3 months to donate one of these dog vests to our local police department.
