Do your boas throw fits too?

When in shed, I soak my girl after her eyes go out of blue, since it's hard to keep the humidity higher than 50% for a good amount of time. Since I started doing it I've never had a shed problem with her. But boy was she in a snit tonight! It was the FIRST time I've EVER seen her twitch and hiss when I touched her, and she hissed non-stop in the bath. When I got her out, she gaped and hissed at me! She was a foul beast tonight, I could still hear her hissing after I put her back in her tank. It was also the first time I warned my friends (who came in to see what all the fuss was about) that they MIGHT not wanna put their faces/body parts within her reach. AND the first time I went "Man, would it be great to have a snake hook instead of having to use my hands." I know what I'll be asking for for Christmas. :P

Ever had your boa randomly go off the deep end one day? I sure wouldn't have expected it from my girl, I guess it goes to show they have mood swings too! :O

Some can be moody, my male more so than my females

It happens, even snakes have bad days.

I try not to bother mine when they are in shed. Haven't had that problem so far. Hope I never do :)

Sorry! I did get a chuckle out of this! It sure sounded like she was in a snit! :D

Of my 2, Peaches, my female, has always been sweet and gentle - even when in shed. My male, Jasper, is new to me so I'm unsure how he'll be in shed. He is super sweet, but I do detect a slightly more "touchy" personality with him. So we'll see.... ;)

My Nicaraguan BCI went off the deep end, and stayed there :P When I got her, she was pretty mellow for the first few months and I thought she was going to be one of the calm Nics. Then all of a sudden she turned into a screaming banshee flying around with her mouth open.

I thought it was a one-time thing, but to this day she'll still strike at whatever when I have to handle her, though she doesn't connect much with my arm. Usually she'll just strike wherever she happens to be aimed :P But I'm not complaining, I kind of like how fiesty she is... :D

The only time my boa's seem to get a touch pissy is when I go to put them back into their enclosure. They just want to stay out and explore more.

I'd suggest not soaking her until after she actually starts to shed herself. Soaking prior can leach the oils from their skin and cause bad sheds. If your humidity is too low ambient, offer a humid hide. Might keep her happier, lol.
