    Outside enclosures
Does anybody have any experience with these? I am thinking of building a large outside one in a new home that I am building. It will have running water, small trees, and a heat source, Thinking of building it out of glass with plenty of green grass, with misters for humity. In summer would not need any heat as I live in Ga and just need to worry about it becoming to hot, which small fans should regulate.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like you're looking to build a greenhouse of sorts, very cool idea! I'd build it well away from any trees, I suspect it would not hold up well to a large limb falling on it! You might also consider some underground retreats in case, for whatever reason, the fans shut off in the summer. I only have experience building more standard outdoor housing but here are a couple pics to better illustrate the underground hide. It's a nice, cool retreat in summer and doesn't get freezing in winter.

This enclosure was built for a tegu. The underground hide is buried below the frostline under that bare patch on the right side, outside the enclosure.

The tubing under the chair leads down and into a large box that's buried under that patch of dirt I mentioned in the above picture. The chair helps keep water out when we get windy rains.

Living outdoors your animal will definitely be alot dirtier most of the time. It was far and in-between that I got a picture of my tegu when he wasn't all brown from digging around - this is not one of those pictures! :D

I have never been to Ga, but my surface knowledge of the deep south says hot and humid... haha. If the climate's right, an outdoor hide sounds awesome. Could never do it in the Sacramento Valley, we have winters at about 30 degrees and Summer and about 103. :O

Southern Ga does get cold at night but warms up during the day. That is why I would have to have some type of heat in it for the winter or bring them inside during the cold months. Will keep everybodyt posted on what I decide to do and thanks for the input. I saw a ad on craigslist some time ago for a outside one and it was neat but expensive
