Im in the process of picking up a 1.1 caramel het OG. I know there are some issues with kinking. How often does this occur and what makes it more/less prevalent? As soon as I produce a caramel glow Im going to try to trade it off to change the lines a little.

What I know of it is it's best to out cross them as much as possible. Meaning breeding sib x sib or parent x offspring should be avoided.

Researching this before you picked up your animals would probably be your best bet. You can't guarantee no kinks in the offspring... If people could do that then we wouldn't have so many people freaking out about kinked caramels.

I've heard of a few things that could possibly help, either incubating slightly cooler, slightly dryer perhaps, but i don't keep caramels and the only person i did know who did is no longer in the hobby so i can't ask them.

There are threads and threads on this though i'm fairly sure.

Not only do they have kinking problems but most people cant even gets eggs from female caramels. Some have had success but not much so I would try to find a female ghost het. caramel to best help your chances and also keep genetic lines from crossing as said before
