    The Cool Side...
Do snakes usually sleep on the cool side of things? It's about... 78-80 over there - no UTH. Her water bowl is there, as is a nice rock for her to rub on.

Currently she's trying to burrow UNDER said rock into the cypress.

She's halfway done shedding. There is a fuzzy in there, I just figured I'd leave it over night - that is OK, right?

I digress -- anyway, is it OK if she decides to sleep on the cool side? Banana is making me neurotic, LOL...

They will go back and forth between the hot and the cold side.

What kind of rock do you have? Do not use a heat rock. They can lay on them and burn themselves

Not quite sure what you mean about half way done shedding. Has she started shedding or still in the shedding process. She might not eat when she is in shed. Mine usually wait until they have finished shedding and then eat. I don't know if your fuzzy is f/t or live. I wouldn't leave a live rat or mouse with my snakes overnight.

Yup. All the time. She knows whats comfortable and will find it.

Personally, I'd dig the substrate away from the rock and set the rock on the bottom of the tank then push the substrate around it. Wouldn't want her to get under there and hurt herself.

My girl has done that a few times. Weirded me out, especially since it's winter and it seems illogical, but she knows better than me what she wants.

I would provide a hide for her on the cold side. If she is trying to burrow around the rock, she wants to cool off, but feels insecure without a hide over there and is trying to find one. I actually cut a hole in the cardboard box my bank checks came in and put it on my cold side recently. I plan on getting something more permanent, but it is the perfect size right now. :) Just good to offer a hide at at least two temps.

When you say halfway done shedding, do you mean she had an incomplete shed? If so I wonder if she's seeking more humidity, since the cool side is generally more humid than the warm.
